CEM Discover microwave reactors

One of the principles of Green Chemistry deals with energy efficiency, which refers to the reduction of energy spent during a chemical process that represents an economic and environmental impact. Thus, one option is to replace conventional heating with alternative energy sources, such as microwaves. Chemical reactions carried out under microwave irradiation, when compared to those carried out under conventional heating, occur at higher speeds, in general, 10 - 100 times faster. The Laboratory of Synthesis of Natural Products at DQ-UFSCar has two CEM Discover microwave equipments acquired through the FAPESP grants 1998/14138-2 and 2013/07600-3.
