Alunos do Colégio Equipe visitam laboratórios de pesquisa do Departamento de Química
Na última semana, alunos do 9º ano do Colégio Equipe (SP), acompanhados por professores da instituição, visitaram o Departamento de Química (DQ) da UFSCar e conheceram as instalações do Centro de Desenvolvimento de Materiais Funcionais (CDMF), um dos Centros de Pesquisa, Inovação e Difusão apoiados pela FAPESP. A atividade integrou o projeto “Ciência de Portas Abertas”, promovido pelo Centro de Excelência em Pesquisa em Química Sustentável (CERSusChem) e pelo Laboratório de Nanomateriais para Energia Sustentável (LANES), sob coordenação, respectivamente, da Profa. Dra. Arlene Gonçalves Corrêa e da Profa. Dra. Lucia Helena Mascaro. A iniciativa tem como objetivo aproximar jovens do ambiente universitário e estimular o interesse pela ciência e pela pesquisa.
Durante a visita, os estudantes conheceram as instalações do DQ e tiveram contato direto com diferentes áreas de pesquisa. No Laboratório de Síntese, Catálise e Modelagem Molecular, coordenado pelo Prof. Dr. Marco Antonio Barbosa Ferreira, e no Laboratório de Síntese Orgânica Sustentável e Catálise, liderado pelo Prof. Dr. Márcio Weber Paixão, observaram equipamentos, vidrarias e procedimentos comuns a um laboratório de química. No Laboratório de Nanomateriais para Energia Sustentável, conheceram mais sobre o funcionamento de reatores e a produção de catalisadores de baixo custo voltados à geração de energia limpa. A programação foi concluída com a visita também ao CERSusChem, onde os estudantes aprenderam sobre os princípios da química verde e acompanharam demonstrações de reações químicas.

Recently, 9th-grade students from Colégio Equipe (SP), accompanied by their teachers, visited the Department of Chemistry (DQ) at UFSCar and explored the facilities of the Center for the Development of Functional Materials (CDMF), one of the Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centers supported by The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). The activity was part of the “Science with Open Doors” project, organized by the Center of Excellence in Research for Sustainable Chemistry (CERSusChem) and the Laboratory of Nanomaterials for Sustainable Energy (LANES), coordinated respectively by Professor Arlene Gonçalves Corrêa and Professor Lucia Helena Mascaro. The initiative aims to bring young students closer to the university environment and inspire their interest in science and research.
During the visit, the students were guided through the spaces of the DQ and were introduced to different areas of research. In the Laboratory of Synthesis, Catalysis and Molecular Modeling, coordinated by Professor Marco Antonio Barbosa Ferreira, and in the Laboratory of Sustainable Organic Synthesis and Catalysis, led by Professor Márcio Weber Paixão, they observed equipment, glassware and routine laboratory procedures. At the Laboratory of Nanomaterials for Sustainable Energy, they learned about the operation of reactors and the production of low-cost catalysts aimed at clean energy generation. The program concluded with a visit to CERSusChem, where the students learned about the principles of green chemistry and watched demonstrations of chemical reactions.
